Consultant Haematologist

Care and Compassion – It’s in our blood

An exciting opportunity to work at the award-winning Queen's Centre for Oncology and Haematology at Castle Hill Hospital.

This is a replacement post looking for an outstanding candidate to join the existing team of dynamic Consultants in providing services for Haematological Oncology, General and Laboratory Haematology to both the Hull Centre and the regional network. You will join the 6 existing Consultant Haematologists who work as an integrated team, each having a specialist area of interest.  The consultant team is supported by 4 Specialty Registrars, 3 Specialty Doctors, junior doctors and specialist nurses.

The Hull Haematology Department provides Level 3 Haematology Services for the area.  The Centre hosts the Haematology multidisciplinary team meeting for the network. Hull is also a Haemophilia treatment centre with around 40 severely affected patients.  The department has strong links to the Hull York Medical School and encourages involvement in clinical research.

The department benefits from the outstanding facilities of the Queen’s Centre. These include a high intensity level 3 ward with 5 HEPA filtered rooms to support autologous transplantation. There is a large outpatient unit and day therapy centre, behavioural oncology team, on site laboratory and comprehensive oncology services including radiotherapy.

Hull was awarded City of Culture in 2017 which has seen a significant investment within the city leading to improvement in all facilities. The city and the surrounding countryside boasts excellent housing at comparatively cheaper prices compared to national average and there are all aspects of family life within easy reach including high quality schooling, shopping and leisure facilities capable of satisfying most needs.

Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to visit the centre, experience the facilities and meet the current team members to understand the team ethos, care environment and philosophy.
