Hello, we are Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (HUTHT). HUTHT is an extraordinary place to undertake an award winning apprenticeship programme. We have helped many local people gain invaluable experience of working in the NHS today, along with a nationally recognised qualification.

What is the role?

We are looking for a remarkable candidate with an enthusiasm for healthcare science to join our audiology team initially for 13-months to gain experience and complete an Intermediate (Level 2) programme in healthcare support. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patients, and perform duties accurately including answering the telephone, data input, producing documents, filing and archiving. Upon successful completion of the initial apprenticeship the candidate will have the opportunity to further study towards the Level 6 (degree) leading to a career as a qualified audiologist.

Who are we looking for?

The post will be demanding so we are looking for candidates who are ready for the challenge and share our values of care, honesty, and accountability. You will need to be able to demonstrate good communication and team working skills. Previous work experience in a care environment is desirable but not essential.

Eligibility and entry requirements

Applicants need to hold/predicted to hold 3 A Levels grades ABB (including a science, either Biology, Chemistry or Physics) and a minimum Level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy (GCSE Grade C Maths and English/new grade 4 or above). An interest in health and science is also essential. You must be aged 18 or over at the start of the apprenticeship and have been resident in the UK/EU for the last three years. You must not hold a similar level 2 healthcare support qualification (including apprenticeship) or higher and you must not be in any form of formal government-funded education.

Future Prospects

During the initial 13 month apprenticeship you will gain valuable healthcare support skills and experiences within the audiology department. Upon successful completion of both a probationary period and the Level 2 apprenticeship, if the candidate has demonstrated core values then an opportunity to progress to the Level 6 degree apprenticeship with Aston University will be considered.
