Day Surgery Unit – Daisy Building

Band 5

Peri-Operative Practitioners (Registered Nurses/Operating Department Practitioners)

Part Time, 19 hours per week

The Day Surgery Service is looking for dynamic, motivated and compassionate perioperative staff to join a forward-thinking and developing team. The Day Surgery Unit within the Daisy Building is located within Castle Hill Hospital. There is an expectation for all staff to rotate through the roles within the unit (i.e.admission and discharge, intraoperative – scrub and circulating roles and recovery) providing a varied workload.

If you are motivated, dynamic and a caring registered practitioner (either as a nurse or operating department practitioner) who is able to demonstrate a high standard of clinical practice, we would like to hear from you. You must possess excellent communication and team working qualities, with a willingness to learn new skills. You should also thrive on working in a busy environment and be forward thinking and passionate about delivering a high standard of care. We would welcome individuals who have an enthusiastic approach to teaching students and junior members of staff.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential. All successful candidates will be support by a preceptorship package and training in all aspects of the day surgery environment.

The Day Surgery Service presently operates between the hours of 07:30 to 19:30 Monday to Friday, and is closed on Bank Holidays (although we are currently reviewing our opening times, which may be extended). The hours are flexible to suit the requirements of the service. There is a requirement to participate in an on call system and some weekend working.
