Consultant in General Anaesthesia with a Specialist Interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia (1 post).
These posts are advertised to support the anaesthetic department at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The anaesthetic department provides services across two hospital sites, Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. All paediatric and neonatal services are based on the Hull Royal Infirmary site as are all obstetric services. There are 67 consultants within the department who provide in excess of 30,000 anaesthetics per year to a vast range of surgical specialties and many other clinical areas. These posts have been developed to support expansion in surgical workload within the Trust and replace retiring consultants.
The department of obstetric anaesthesia supports the obstetric service based at Hull Royal Infirmary with over 5000 deliveries per year. There are 9 consultants in this department which has a significant and proactive teaching and research programme
Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is a University Teaching Hospital with 1293 beds and an annual budget of £481 million. The Trust supports a variety of tertiary services and is both a Major Cancer Centre and Major Trauma Centre. The East Riding of Yorkshire is a very popular place to live. It extends to several well known East Coast resorts as well as containing the Yorkshire Wolds and Yorkshire Moors. The cost of living is significantly lower than elsewhere in the country making it an excellent place to achieve a good work/life balance.
