Locum Consultant in and Anaesthesia.       

This post is advertised to support Anesthetic services within the Trust

The post is available for 6 months in the first instance and extendable to 12 months with agreement.

The Anaesthetic department covers two hospitals, Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. There are 62 consultants within the department who provide in excess of 30,000 anaesthetics per year to a vast range of surgical specialties and many other clinical areas. 

Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is a University Teaching Hospital with 1293 beds and an annual budget of £481 million. The Trust supports a variety of tertiary services and is both a Major Cancer Centre and Major Trauma Centre. The East Riding of Yorkshire is a very popular place to live. It extends to several well known East Coast resorts as well as containing the Yorkshire Wolds and Yorkshire Moors. The cost of living is significantly lower than elsewhere in the country making it an excellent place to achieve a good work/life balance.

To succeed you must be a registered practitioner who possesses FRCA (or equivalent as in either on the specialist register (or eligible to be registered within 6 months). You must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all anaesthetic techniques and have completed advance intensive care training. You should also be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to and work within a team.
