Applications are invited for the post of Trust Doctor at ST1-3 level in Neonates at Hull Royal Infirmary.

Trust Doctor – Education Package

As a Trust Doctor working with Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, you will be entitled to receive the following:

• A named Educational Supervisor

• 10 Study Days Leave per annum

• £500 of Study Leave Allowance per annum

• Access to an e-portfolio

• An assigned Appraiser and access to Multi-Source Feedback 360° (if required) and an Appraisal System

This post is available  for a period of 6 months. This post may be extended for a further period of time upon mutual agreement and confirmed trainee vacancies. 

The Neonatal Unit is a tertiary level service and is part of the Yorkshire Neonatal Network with a dedicated staff at both tier 1 and 2. Hull Royal Infirmary has around 6000 deliveries per year with 5-600 admissions to the neonatal service. A full range of neonatal care is offered at all gestations including neonatal surgery, with cardiac, neurosurgical and other complex conditions managed within the unit with the support of regional services. The successful applicant will gain excellent clinical experience including frequent outpatient clinics, HFOV, Nitric, and total body cooling.

This post will provide training alongside current Specialist Trainees as we are committed to providing a high standard of education and training for all junior staff, irrespective of type of post. We have an excellent reputation for training and the department participates in a very active postgraduate education programme including simulation training, perinatal medicine and neonatal mortality and morbidity meetings. Successful applicants will have access to multidisciplinary meetings, protected departmental teaching, opportunities to undertake an audit project and will also have an Educational Supervisor.

The Hull York Medical School, based on site, is a partnership between the Universities of Hull and York and the NHS in North and East Yorkshire, and Northern Lincolnshire.

The school performs well in league tables in recognition of its excellent undergraduate medical curriculum and research, judged to be of high international quality in the 2008 RAE. There is an excellent Postgraduate Centre with library facilities. Study for higher examinations is encouraged and study leave is available.

This post is EWTD compliant and the appointee will take part in the first oncall out-of-hours full shift arrangements on a rota of 6 or 7 doctors.
This post would be ideal for an individual wishing to gain higher level experience.
