We are looking for a skilled and dynamic individual to perform screening endoscopy across the whole Centre applicable to your accreditation and to support development of the screening workforce to ensure a sustainable and robust service for the future. 

You will have significant experience in performing colonoscopy independently to a high standard has evidenced by your Colonoscopy (and applicable accreditation) KPI’s with at least 1000 independent examinations undertaken to date. You will possess skills and experience of polypectomy (Level 1 & 2) and you will already be accredited has a screening endoscopist for one or both screening programmes. 

A major part of the role will involve the recruitment, training, preparation and mentorship of future medical and non-medical endoscopists has they become eligible for accreditation has screening endoscopists. You will be actively involved has a trainer within the East Yorkshire School of Endoscopy delivering basic skills and therapeutic skills (Polypectomy) Training.

The Screening Centre has established a multidisciplinary approach to the management of Large Non Pedunculated Colorectal Polyps (LNPCP) which accepts referrals from all Consultants within the Screening Centre and the Trust (Gastroenterology & Colorectal) and the successful candidate will work closely with the Clinical Director in developing a robust LNPCP database and strengthen existing care and governance pathways.

The Screening Centre is highly focused on delivering the highest quality of care and with this in mind we offer the successful candidate a varied, clinically focused and flexible job plan.

You will possess and/or be required to undertake mandatory further education/training to meet the knowledge, skills and demands of the job. There will be structured support, induction and education/training to support and develop this role and also opportunities for further professional/skills development including further screening accreditation, if applicable.

Applicants should note that from 1st December 2013 all new appointments to Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust (excluding Medical Staffing appointments) are subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probation period
