Applications are invited for new posts in the Emergency Department (ED) of Hull Royal Infirmary. These three-year posts are ideal for someone who wishes to join the Specialist register as an Emergency Medicine consultant by obtaining the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). This process allows recognition of training and experience outside a training programme to be used for accreditation. The posts would be renewable based on satisfactory progress.
The CESR process includes the requirement for experience in acute medicine, critical care, anaesthesia and paediatric emergency care. This post allows dedicated time (up to 3 months in any one year) outside the ED to be spent gaining the required competencies.
Successful applicants will have a supervisor who will help with development of a portfolio of evidence.
The new ED in Hull was opened in 2016 and boasts a state of the art 10 bay resus room, separate dedicated PEM facility, 24 glass fronted majors cubicles and no corridor waits for patients over the last winter.
The ED is very busy, seeing 142,000 patients per annum and is a designated Major Trauma Centre for adults. There is a dedicated PEM facility open 24/7. The medical team receives great support from a dedicated consultant team, who are well regarded in trainee surveys for providing support, encouragement and developmental feedback.
Hull is a great place to live, as those who have graduated from Hull University attest when surveyed. Accommodation is reasonably priced and the 2017 City of Culture experience highlighted the wide range of cutting edge arts and entertainment that have always been going on here. There are very good private and state schools in the locality. There is also a beautiful coastline and countryside to explore, with great links to Europe.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
