The Senior Matron role is an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced and motivated nurse who wishes to provide senior leadership to the Medicine Health Group Nursing Teams. This is to ensure the best care and experiences are given to our patients and that nurses and care staff practice to the highest standards. This role is key in advancing and assuring clinical best practice and patient care as well as for ensuring that nursing services are relevant and run efficiently and effectively.
The Senior Matrons are vital members of the Health Groups’ management teams, working to a Nurse Director but, also, working collaboratively with the Chief Nurse, Corporate Nursing Team, Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses, General Managers and wider Nursing/Midwifery teams in the provision of services and the advancement of nursing practice. There is a specific requirement for visible, accessible and strong clinical leadership and of being a role model.
The Senior Matron will be responsible for the line management of the Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses, and for monitoring and assuring the quality of patient care (safety, effectiveness, and experience). In addition, Senior Matrons will be responsible for overseeing patient flow, working closely with the multidisciplinary teams, a real focus on patient pathways in their areas of responsibility and corporately also. They will also play a key role in the development and delivery of the annual Nursing and Midwifery objectives and work-plan.
** Salary relates to year 2 of 3 year NHS pay deal
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
