These posts are advertised to support the delivery of anaesthesia at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

The appointees will be based in HEYHT and will have opportunities to gain good experience in a wide range of Anaesthetic specialties and undertake audit/QI project with the support of the department. The elective anaesthetic specialties include but are not limited to airway, head and neck, regional, obstetrics, paediatrics, cardiac, neurosurgery, vascular, major GI surgery and plastics.

The postholders will be supported and encouraged to train in higher specialities and the successful candidate will be supported to work towards the certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR). The post has a 1 in 8 on-call commitment on a full shift rota system.

The anaesthetic department covers two hospital sites, Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. There are 65 consultants within the department who provide in excess of 30000 anaesthetics per year to a vast range of surgical specialities and many other clinical areas.

Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is a University Teaching Hospital with 1293 beds and an annual budget of £481 Million. The Trust supports a range of tertiary services and is both a major cancer centre and a major trauma centre.

Hull and the East Riding are very popular places to live. Hull has benefitted from being the City of Culture and there are many attractive and popular coastal resorts, market towns and villages in the East Riding along with easy access to the North York Moors. The cost of living is lower than elsewhere in the country making it an excellent place to achieve a good work life balance.
